Our Group Development Team
Every Scout Group is required to put in place a management committee that is responsible for the wellbeing of the Group. This committee is responsible for the provision of the facilities and equipment that enable the Leaders to operate effective Scouting for those in their sections. This means:-
- Effective meetings of this committee to review:-
- The ongoing status and development of the Group
- The safety and security of any buildings and facilities owned / used by the Group
- With the leaders identify any inhibitors to effective Scouting and its growth
- With the leaders, review requirements for facilities and equipment and put in place plans and programmes to deliver these.
- The ongoing status of any projects
- Ensure the financial stability of the group
- Financial management to meet the requirements of Scouting and the Charities Commission
- The recording of any decisions made, plus minutes of any meetings
- Effective ongoing management of facilities and resources, owned / used by the Group. (Including transport, camping equipment etc.)
- The development of strategies and plans for the development of the Group and Scouting on Hayling in general
- Developing community and business contacts for the Group
In 2007 as part of our "Looking Outwards" strategy we decided to change the emphasis of our Executive Committee and introduced the title "Group Development Team". The responsibilities and trustee positions of the committee remained the same but we increased the emphasis on further developing Scouting on Hayling Island. We also took the opportunity to redefine some of the supporting roles.
