Our Group Development Team

Every Scout Group is required to put in place a management committee that is responsible for the wellbeing of the Group. This committee is responsible for the provision of the facilities and equipment that enable the Leaders to operate effective Scouting for those in their sections. This means:-

In 2007 as part of our "Looking Outwards" strategy we decided to change the emphasis of our Executive Committee and introduced the title "Group Development Team". The responsibilities and trustee positions of the committee remained the same but we increased the emphasis on further developing Scouting on Hayling Island. We also took the opportunity to redefine some of the supporting roles.

Our GDT comprises the following key roles:-

Chairman Overall responsibility of the GDT
Secretary Primarily our GDT meetings secretary, publishing agenda and recording / publishing, meeting minutes and action items.
Treasurer Manage the groups finances, books, bank & savings accounts, producing reports as required including the annual accounts (audited).
Subs Coord Responsible for tracking, recording and reporting of subs (termly and standing order) and Gift Aid.
Quartermaster Responsible for our camping equipment
Transport Manager Responsible for provision and maintenance of our trailers and any future group owned transport.
HQ Manager Responsible for provision and maintenance of our HQ building.
Badge Secretary Coordinates all badge requirements for the group and badge stock management
Fundraising Maintains an overall prespective of group fund raising activities.
Promotions Responsible for developing relationships with local business and organisations, including any local badge sponsorship opportunities
IT Manager Work with the Leaders to develop, maintain and implement our IT needs.
Wish List Coord Monitor and follow up on Leader requirements and any damage reports
