GSL's Update

Our Show
Many thanks to all of you who came along to see "Our Show". Nearly 500 watched our show and over 150 took part and as always the benefits were clearly visible in the faces of our members. See later in this edition of "The Woggle" for some more pictures.

This is our starting sequence with 150 people on stage (and hiding behind the curtains!).

100 Club
January Draw - the 3 winners of our £25 monthly prizes were Avril Keyes, Brenda Kenny and James Perfett.
February Draw - the winners were Kim Sparling, Minnie Deans and Michelle Golden.

Congratulations to you all.

Indian Supper
By popular demand we are once again running our Indian Supper evening. The Desai family have again offered to prepare and serve an Authentic Indian Meal for our pleasure. The event takes place on Friday 4th April at the HQ.

Bring your own plates, cutlery, glasses and bottle (or 2) and join us for what has always been a relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Tickets cost £10 and can be ordered by calling Ian on 92462786 or booked online..

St George's Day Service
St George is the Patron Saint of Scouting and each year all members of the movement in the UK gather in local Services to celebrate Scouting and to remake their promises.

This year, we will again be joining with the other Groups in the Havant area on Wednesday 23rd April. We are arranging transport from Hayling and the Coach will leave at 17:45 from St Mary's Church. We hope for a 100% turnout in full smart uniform.

Family Fun Day
With the Gang Show over, we are now focusing on our Family Fun Day on Saturday 28th June. The event will involve a number of activities along the Billy Line, followed by a BBQ and Camp Fire. The Fun Day is for all members of the Group and also a chance for their families to join in the fun. More details will be sent out after Easter but why not book the date now and plan to enjoy a day of fun for the whole family.

Air Rifle Shooting
A very popular activity with young people is Air Rifle Shooting. In early February Aaron Pycroft, Jamie Bray and Tom Lincoln all successfully completed the National Small Bore Rifle Association Instructor training and we are now able to offer this activity to our young people.

Gift Aid
Last month we sent home a form to all parents who have not yet offered to help our income with Gift Aid. Thank you for those who have already returned completed forms. Can I ask everyone else to help us to receive 28p for every £1 of subs from the Inland Revenue by signing the form and returning it to us. We do not need nor do we disclose any personal information.

Awards & Presentations Evening

Wednesday 21st May
Scout HQ 19:30

We are holding our annual Awards and Presentations earlier this year due to other commitments.
The highlight of this year's evening will be a presentation from Alistair Harris and Jorden Reed on their participation in the World Scout Jamboree last year. There will also be a chance to see and hear what we have achieved during the past 12 months.

Book Sale
Saturday 31st May
URC Hall from 10:00
Our next Book Sale will take place on Saturday 31st May at the URC Church Hall in Mengham. Once again we will have about 8000 books on offer.

Thanks Back Stage Team Any show needs a great back stage team and although ours was at the back of the hall and not the stage, thanks to Tom, Jamie and Doug for their efforts with the lighting and sound.
