Raise the Roof

During the past 3 weeks we have received donations of £2000 from The Hedley Foundation, a charitable trust, £5000 from Hampshire County Council, £1000 from Rene Day, a long term supporter of the group, £350 for the loan of our equipment to Hampshire Scouts and raised over £1000 at our quiz night. Our total is now £31000 and we are in the final negotiations to ensure the roof gets replaced during November 2005.This is an incredible achievement by all concerned.

Quiz Night

What a brilliant evening. 21 teams took part, our largest attendance ever. Once again Billy Ault, a former Scout and leader with the group prepared the questions and was our question master and was supported by Anne and Claire for marking and scoring. In the meantime Mandy, Fiona and Jo were busy in the kitchen preparing Chilli, Jacket Potatoes, Cheese, Tuna & Salad in order that the competitors could replenish their brain cells at half time.

In the end the quiz winners were ACE (for the 4th time) who narrowly beat the “Racqueteers” into 2nd place. Many thanks for everyone who took part and helped to make a profit of over £1000.

Photographs

Although not a legal requirement, we are following good practice as identified by the Child Protection agencies in giving all parents the opportunity to ask that their child’s photograph not be included in any of our reporting.
Photographs have always been an important part of our memories and being able to capture activities and achievements for our history and to inform others. We would very much like to maintain this tradition, but I know that some people are not comfortable with photographs appearing on web sites or in newspapers
Typical examples are pictures from camps and fun days or when unusual activities are taking place on meeting nights or when someone receives the top award of their section or some other important recognition.
We are in the process of putting up a gallery of “scouts in action” on our web site and also like to report achievements on our web site, in “The Woggle” and in the Hayling Islander.

The link below will take you to the online form which you only need to complete and submit if you DO NOT wish any photographs of your child(ren) to appear in any of our communications.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact either your leader or Ian Hawke.

Our 100 Club

If you have not yet joined our 100 club, then this is your last chance. The first draw will take place at our Fireworks Display on Saturday 5th November and each month thereafter. We have had to make some changes and there are now 41 prizes throughout the year ranging from £25 to £100.

The profit of £1200 will be the last part of our main fundraising for “Raise the Roof” this year.

Please help us by joining and perhaps getting your families and friends to join in as well. Forms are available on the web site and in the HQ.
