Fred Rook Award for Zack

Report Date 28/05/10

Zack Allgood was presented with the "Fred Rook Award" for his commitment to helping the wider community.

The award was presented by Fred Rook who was a Scout on Hayling and decided in 1987 that he would like to introduce an award for any member of the Group who shows their commitment to community service which has always been a key aspect of Scouting. Fred who has held a number of Scouting appointments over many years travels up from Kent each year to make the presentation.

Zack who has been involved with the Hayling Scout Group from the age of 6 and will shortly be moving on from the Explorer section at the age of 18, was nominated for this award for his involvement in a number of community projects and being part of many local committees, all associated with the development of young people.

As an example he recently gained CAS Assessors certification which means that he can now help youth organisations by assessing what they do and how they do it and offer advice and guidance to help develop improved results for their members.

Well done Zack
