Oh Dear! Didn't it Rain

Report Date 30/05/07

After warm and sunny weekends, it was a great shame that the May Bank Holiday weekend proved once again to be one of heavy rain and wind. Over 1000 scouts from Portsmouth, Petersfield, Waterlooville, Havant and Hayling had arrived on Hayling for a weekend of fun and adventure and although many of the activities could not take place for safety reasons, it appears the majority of young people enjoyed themselves (not sure if this is also true for the adults!).

80 Hayling Cubs and Scouts took part and were joined by about 25 Beavers on the Sunday.

Unfortunately with the field already under water and a very bad night of rain and wind predicted the Hayling Leaders decided, with many others that for reasons of health and safety that the Cubs would go home on the Sunday and the Scouts & Explorers would spend the night in the HQ.

There must be something about the end of May Holiday weekend and large camps because the weather was the same at the millenium camp in 2000!. (Message here is to avoid this weekend!)
