11 Young Leader Awards Presented

Report Date 11/03/11

The young leader Award is available to any young person aged between 14 and 18 who would like to help Scouting in a Leadership role. They may also be part of our Explorer Unit if they wish.

To complete the award an individual has to complete 11 training modules including First Response, programme planning, challenging behaviour, training techniques with others that give them an in depth understanding of the Scouting training programme for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

In addition each Young Leader will spend at least 3 months working with one of the younger sections and take the responsibility for organising and executing 3 indoor and 3 outdoor activities

The commitment and learning is very demanding for this age range and therefore it is with great pride that we witnessed 11 of them receiving the Young Leader Belt, presented by Mandy Hawke who coordinates the award for those on Hayling Island.
