Gold Award for Adam & Matt

Report Date 11/11/14

Adam Opie and Matthew Pickles were presented with their Chief Scout's Gold Awards, the highest award of the Scout section.

When asked about the main challenges for their awards, both Adam and Matt made reference to last years summer camp when they cycled through the Normandy beaches of France in the most attrocious weather. However as you would expect, they both had a brilliant time!!. Adam mentioned the challenge of being a Patrol Leader, but also the sense of achievement when successfully passing on skills to the younger Scouts. Matthew highlighted the fun of working with Beavers, who although demanding more attention than Scouts, always treat the older Scouts as "idols".

The awards were presented by Colin Bartlett, Assistant District Commissioner for Scouts in Havant who congratulated them both on their fine achievement and thanked the Leaders and parents for their support over many years.
